Courtyard House
Dunsborough, Wadandi Boodja
Set along the fairways of Dunsborough Lakes, Courtyard House is organised around a central courtyard that offers both sanctuary and strategy.
This arrangement allows multiple north-facing facades, maximising solar access and cross-ventilation. Rammed earth blades anchor the building with thermal mass, complemented by burnished concrete floors and underfloor heating for year-round comfort. A subdued material palette ensures the home recedes into its landscape, quiet and composed.
Internally, the tall, expansive entry creates a gallery-like space for artwork, leading into wide. light-filled corridors that extend long sightlines through the courtyard, across living areas, and out onto the greens. Guest suites are accommodated in a dedicated front wing, while the main living areas retreat deeper into the site.
The result is a home of calm restraint, grounded in tactile, considered materials and sculptural in form, embedded in its landscape. A refined balance of privacy, openness and spatial clarity.
